Clean Truck Options
The Hunts Point Clean Trucks Program is one of the first and largest clean truck programs in the country to offer rebate funding to truck owners toward a variety of advanced transportation technologies and alternative fuel options for medium to heavy duty trucks. Whether an applicant is interested in scrapping an older truck or would like to purchase a new 2010 hybrid electric diesel truck, the Hunts Point Clean Trucks Program is designed to provide the applicant the flexibility to choose a clean truck option that is most suitable for the applicant’s specific business needs.
Today, more businesses are evaluating how to operate more efficiently, reduce their environmental footprint, and look for business solutions that are more cost effective. The Hunts Point Clean Trucks Program aims to help businesses evaluate cleaner transportation solutions that are better for the environment and the bottom line.
If you are a truck or fleet owner and meet the Hunts Point Clean Trucks Program Eligibility requirements, you can choose to apply for one of the following rebate incentives:
Vehicle Scrap Program
Exhaust Retrofit Technology
Diesel to Diesel Replacement
Diesel to Alternative Fuel Truck Replacement
Vehicle Scrap Program
Do you own a diesel truck with an engine Model Year 2006 and older and are interested in scrapping your truck for funding? The Vehicle Scrap Program offers up to $5,000 toward the scrap of an older diesel truck. The amount of funding received depends on the vehicle class (Class 3 to Class 8) and engine model year.
To Participate:
- Own a diesel truck equipped with an engine Model Year 2006 and older.
- Vehicle Scrappage is mandatory and documentation is required.
- Funding amount will vary depending on vehicle class (Class 3 to Class 8) and engine Model Year.
Exhaust Retrofit Technology
Are you interested in reducing emissions from your current truck to help promote cleaner air? The Hunts Point Clean Trucks Program is offering an incentive to cover 100 percent of the equipment and installation costs of an exhaust retrofit technology, an aftertreatment device that can be installed as a muffler replacement to reduce diesel particulate matter.
To Participate:
- Own a diesel truck equipped with an engine Model Year 1994 to 2006.
- Determine the appropriate exhaust retrofit technology for specific vehicle type and duty cycle.
- Exhaust temperature analysis may be required.
- Rebate covers 100 percent of the cost of the technology and installation.
- Ongoing maintenance and cleaning is required.
Diesel to Diesel Replacement
Are you looking to upgrade your fleet with a cleaner, more fuel efficient 2010 EPA emissions compliant diesel truck? The Hunts Point Clean Trucks Program is offering rebate incentives to truck owners that currently own a diesel truck equipped with an engine Model Year 2006 or older for the purchase of a new 2010 EPA emissions compliant truck.
To Participate:
- If you own a diesel truck with an engine Model Year 2003 and older, you may be eligible to receive a rebate incentive up to 40 percent of the incremental cost of a new truck.*
- If you own a diesel truck with an engine Model Year 2004 to 2006, you may be eligible to receive a rebate incentive up to 50 percent of the incremental cost of a new truck.*
- Truck Scrappage is mandatory for diesel to diesel replacement and documentation is required.
- Participant will be required to provide a cost share for the remaining cost of the replacement truck.
*The incremental cost is determined between the cost of a 2007 and a new 2010 EPA emission compliant diesel truck.
Diesel to Alternative Fuel Truck Replacement
Are you interested in reducing fuel costs and exploring the use of alternative fuels? The Hunts Point Clean Trucks Program is offering rebate incentives to truck owners to replace their older diesel trucks with new alternative fuel trucks. There are three types of alternative fuel trucks eligible for funding under this Program:
- Diesel to Hybrid Diesel-Electric Truck
- Diesel to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Truck
- Diesel to Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV)
To Participate:
- If you own a diesel truck with an engine Model Year 2006 and older, you may be eligible to receive a rebate up to 80 percent of the incremental cost of a new 2010 EPA emissions compliant alternative fuel vehicle.*
- Determine infrastructure, fueling, training, and maintenance needs for the specific alternative fuel truck of choice.
- Participant with a truck equipped with an engine Model Year 2003 or older must scrap or retrofit older truck with an exhaust retrofit technology. Participant is eligible for exhaust retrofit technology incentive if he or she chooses to retrofit the older truck.
- Participant with a truck equipped with an engine Model Year 2004 to 2006 can choose to voluntarily scrap or retrofit older truck, but it is not mandatory. Participant may be eligible for vehicle scrap or exhaust retrofit technology incentives.
- Participant will be required to provide a cost share for the remaining cost of the replacement truck.
*The incremental cost is determined between the cost of a new 2010 EPA emissions compliant diesel truck and a 2010 EPA emissions compliant alternative fuel truck.
